In 2010 when a representative from the Maine Manufacturing Extension Partnership contacted us about getting involved with Kaizen 5S training programs we were (to put it mildly) resistant. Aren’t we already working efficiently? Don’t we know everything about how to best manufacture our own products? Heck, we’ve been doing this for over 25 years, what can outsiders teach us?
Wow, how wrong we were! Our first Kaizen event focused on the shipping/receiving area, next we moved to the sales office to improve the flow of paperwork (and reduce paperwork) and then on to the manufacturing area where machine set-up time was reviewed, and improved. Currently we are finishing a product specific project aimed at reducing manufacturing lead time.
What does this mean to you, our customers? This is a system of continuous improvement. It means Xuron is dedicated to our customers, our products and our employees. We are committed to manufacturing quality, innovative products, on-time deliveries and excellent customer service.
Don’t be afraid to let us know how we’re doing!
