It’s not retailers’ fault that inventory shortages are causing craft and hobby items to disappear from store shelves. The demand for these products has skyrocketed in the last two years, but the suppliers have not been able to keep up. This is due to a combination of increased demand, a shortage of materials, and the need for more staff.
Increased Demand
In 2020 and 2021, the demand for jewelry making supplies, model hobby supplies, general crafting supplies and DIY project materials increased dramatically. People were staying home more and looking for ways to keep themselves busy, so they turned to crafts and hobbies. This created a huge surge in demand for the products that these activities require.
Shortage of Materials
At the same time that demand increased, it became more difficult to get materials we need to manufacture. Our suppliers have not been able to meet our demand for raw materials and components.
Need for Staff
In order to increase our production capacity, we not only need materials we need staff. We’d love to hire more people for our factory but are competing with every other company in our area – some (Government contractors) who can offer much more in the way of pay and benefits.
We are doing everything we can to increase production, but the bottom line is that until we can get more people and materials, we are not able to keep up with demand.
We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause our customers and ask for your patience as we work to increase production. Thank you for your continued support.
